Beginning with the positive aspects, it is clear that a gigantic mall offers consumers more choices. Moreover, the large chain stores that populate these shopping centers generally offer lower prices due to economies of scale. A further convenience is that a considerable population resides in suburban zones, so these large shopping centers are closer to people than traditional stores in the central business district. So, more car usage to go to large malls isn't correct for everyone, especially those not living downtown.
